The 93rd running of the race is scheduled for Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
The little town of Seward fills up quickly for the race, particularly when the 4th of July falls on a weekend. Plan and reserve early! For assistance planning your visit, please connect with the Seward Chamber of Commerce at (907) 224-8051.
Spectator Tips –
In 2021, if you do come to watch, please be mindful of others, practice social distancing and wear a mask when unable to maintain social distancing. Considering the pandemic, give racers and other spectators plenty of space. Please stay behind the barriers on 4th Avenue and at the base of the mountain, and don’t go beyond the cones stationed on Jefferson Avenue.
With three races throughout the day, you’ll have plenty of time to see the race from different vantage points. You can watch the start and finish on 4th Avenue, or head to Jefferson Street to see how racers tackle the base of the mountain. If you intend to climb the mountain, use the HIKING TRAIL, known as the Jeep Trail, which starts at the intersection of 1st and Monroe Streets.
Wherever you watch, be sure to obey race officials and volunteers and STAY OFF THE RACE TRAIL. Racers have trained hard for the Mount Marathon Race, don’t be the person who messes up their day!
